SOLD - 1935 Miller Ford "Speedster"

The most unique of only TEN 1935 Miller-Fords ever produced!

This amazing vehicle may be the last un-restored piece of racing and hot-rodding history to be uncovered and available. It was licensed and driven on the streets of OH-CA-IN and many places in-between during the 40's - 50's. Imagine jumping into the car and driving it from Akron, Ohio to Indianapolis! It made other trips to racetracks in the 40’s, where the tires were changed so it could make some laps!

35 Miller Ford

In 1935, Harry Miller, Preston Tucker, and Edsel Ford created 10 cars for the Indianapolis 500 race. Several of these wonderful examples of engineering belong to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, the Museum of American Speed, the Wally Parks Motorsports Museum, and the Henry Ford Museum. This particular 1935 Miller-Ford hasn't seen the light of day since the very early 60’s, and has a rich history with ties to several racing legends.

35 Miller Ford

The original owner was Lou Fageol, who purchased as many as 8 complete cars in the late 30’s. Lou and his son Ray Fageol did most of the original modifications by 1951 so it could be enjoyed on the open roads. It was purchased by our grandfather in 1952 and has been in our family since. With the added HP that came from installing Ardun heads to the car in the late 50’s, the transmission gears couldn’t handle the increased power. After trying some custom high-strength gears in 1960 with no luck, the car was tucked away in our father's heated garage until a better solution could be found - which never transpired because our father was too busy raising five boys on a tight budget.

It could be restored to the original '35 Miller-Ford fame, or as the Speedster from the 40's-50's pictured above, or to the last known configuration with the addition of original Ardun Hemi heads in the late 50's. We also have MANY extra parts available for it, some being original '35 Miller-Ford, extra custom suspension components, and flat head Ford parts, extra gears, etc from the 40's - 60's.

Every once in a while, we are lucky enough to get a glimpse of some of the amazing rare vintage automobiles out there. Even rarer is to see a part of racing history that has been secretly tucked away in a residential garage for half a century! It’s a once in a lifetime chance to actually own or drive this one-of-a-kind treasure with a history that is still being discovered!
